His title is Director of Baseball Operations, but Chris Domingue (pronounced Doh’ mang) is almost singularly focused on one thing at Louisiana-Lafayette — and that’s academics. This is in addition to his full time gig as assistant fire chief. And this guy knows his way around the block academically. A guy who once flunked out of college, returned in his 30’s to finish his degree. And not only did he complete the degree, he did a reboot, starting with an academic refresh, and graduated with a 4.0 GPA. So when the young men on the Rajun Cajun roster talk to him about the struggles of full time academics and the rigors of college baseball, he can relate. And he’s done his job so well since he’s taken over the position, the baseball team GPA has risen to new heights.
