You’ve earned an MBA from a prestigious university and have gone on several of the requisite visits to Wall Street. What’s next? How about collegiate athletic operations? You bet. That’s what Penn’s Brad Fadem has done — and he’s got no regrets. Brad thinks he’s really been preparing for this kind of work since he was a kid, so being on the sideline for Penn Men’s Basketball feels like a fit.
In this episode, Brad talks about growing up in the area and going to Penn games, being a water boy for his brother’s AAU team, the MBA he has in his pocket – how it helps now and how it may help in the future, what he learned as a student manager at Boston College, being a “doer”, how he landed the position at Penn, creating a framework for the ops position, learning how to get things done efficiently, the focus on Ivy League academics, and the team’s trip to Italy in the summer of 2018.
Some of Brad’s responsibilities at Penn:
- game scheduling
- practice scheduling
- food/dining/fuel station
- student managers
- “office manager”
- administrative duties for other teams
