In Iowa State‘s Micah Byars, we see a great example of what the operations position can be — and what a person can make of it. Micah looked like he was going down the coaching road in his earliest days, but opportunity presented itself at Central Florida and he made the most of that opportunity, proving himself to be a valuable asset in the organization. That’s all in the rear view mirror now and Micah has moved on to Iowa State where he’s served for nearly a decade under two different head coaches.
In this episode, Micah discusses his coaching background, taking on projects that freed up the other coaches to focus on the court, creating value in a position, adapting to changes in his position and environment, asking questions, advice to younger people looking to get started in operations or coaching, and his involvement in the Teamworks Basketball Leadership Committee.
