We are headed to Virginia this week to talk to the Director of Operations for Virginia Tech Women’s Basketball, Tim Clark. While Tim has only been at Virginia Tech since 2016, he has been with head coach Kenny Brooks for over a decade, mostly during his tenure as a student manager, graduate assistant, and Director of Operations at his alma mater, James Madison University.
In this episode Tim talks about growing up in Virginia, getting his start as a student manager at James Madison, serving as an intern for the women’s basketball team his senior year, his work as a graduate assistant, creating his own office space, trying to balance full time school with a full time job for one year, Hokie Nation (!), the importance of facilities (among other things) for recruits, how the duties have evolved and how they are divided among the VT staff, the challenges coming into Virginia Tech, basketball camps, and the family atmosphere at Virginia Tech.
