You asked, we delivered! Seems as if Mike Sinquefield has created some raving fans within the athletic department at TCU and among his peers in the operations world. Each time the word would go out asking for potential guests for the Ops Nation podcast, Mike Sinquefield’s name is mentioned more times than not. Mike started out in TCU’s equipment room, spent most of the following years as Director of Football Operations for the Horned Frogs, and now the sign on his door says Senior Athletic Director for Internal Affairs.
In this episode Mike talks about getting his start as student manager when he was too small to play high school football, how the skills learned from his start in equipment management fed into the operations world, the importance of people skills, getting his first post collegiate job at East Carolina, looking for and taking advantage of opportunity, his DFO of the Year award, service philosophy, and the future of athletic operations.
- “We’re here to make it easy for players and coaches.”
- “Adapt, improvise, overcome.”
- “A great story is when our name is not in the newspaper.”
