ON15: Melissa Bruner, Florida State Women’s Basketball

We’re headed to Tallahassee, Florida this week to talk to the Director of Operations for Florida State Women’s Basketball, Melissa Bruner. Melissa is in year 12 of this assignment and appears to be loving every minute of it. And when people ask her where she’s at during the actual game, she’ll tell you that she’s tethered to a headset, doing color commentary for the game on the Seminole radio network or ESPN 3 TV. That, of course, means some strategic delegation to ensure that post game meals and travel arrangements are in place.

In this episode Melissa talks about being a four-sport athlete at Coe College in Iowa, her time in Ops at the University of Wisconsin, coaching and administration at Coe College, time management, the learning curve at a new job, building relationships, identifying key influencers, leaning on your counterparts in other sports, and how her work on radio has influenced her work in operations.
