In this episode of Ops Nation, we’re talking to the Director of Football Operations for Bryant University, Brad Baker. Brad first came to our attention when he was featured in an article in the Huffington Post, highlighting his entrepreneurial spirit and his trademark hustle.
In this episode Brad talks about his initial prompting in the area of operations (“I see some promise in you.”), his work in the Dallas Mavericks organization, his education and work experience at Iowa State (“I saw what was possible.”), Princeton, his work over four summers with the Chicago Bears, his remote gig with the San Francisco 49ers, and hitting the ground running at Bryant (“I came in just days before training camp.”).
Some of Brad’s primary duties:
- meals (home and away)
- academic liaison
- fund raising
Brad’s recommended apps:
- Google Calendar – a calendar that’s easy to access from any platform and easy to share.
- ARMS – recruiting, compliance functionality. Software for college athletic departments.
Brad’s Tip of the Day:
- Use to-do lists to organize your day — especially paper lists (“I’m a faster writer.”). Prioritize your lists.
