IU Athletic Director Fred Glass has announced that this Saturday’s previously scheduled football game between IU and Florida International in Bloomington is cancelled.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, which swept across Florida this weekend, Glass and FIU Athletic Director Pete Garcia had been in constant contact about the situation, according to a release from IU Athletics.
Late Monday night, after considering “significant logistical hurdles” with travel and the fact that several players and their families are from places in Florida affected by the hurricane, the decision was made to cancel the game. According to the release from IU, the teams plan to schedule a future game with each other in Bloomington.
